What I Wore a Couple of Days Ago.

I would have posted it that day, but it turned out to be a busier day than expected!

I wore this to go shopping with my little sister at the mall. I also went to a little seminary reunion at night. So, the outfit was kind of casual with a hint of girly-dressy. My favorite kind. :)
Top: Thrifted $5.99
Pearl drop necklace & earrings: Claires $9.99
Bracelet set: Aeropostale (too long ago to remember the price)
Skinny ankle jeans: Forever21 orig.$10.81, sale $7
Sandals: Charming Charlie $30 (One of the more expensive shoes I own, my mom bought them for me for prom)
Total look: $52.98, plus the bracelets which were no more than $10.

I hate having my picture taken. If I have to make a fake smile for a camera, I feel silly. I feel more comfortable making goofball faces for the camera, since I know those are for fun anyway. So, if I start just crossing my eyes and blowing up my cheeks and bucking my teeth out for these "what I wore" posts, just go with it. I just feel so awkward standing there and smiling.

Oh look it's my dog!

Regarding bathing suits.

Swimsuit season.
For many of us LDS women, or any women not wanting to basically be wearing panties and a bra to a pool party, this season is a frustrating one.
Pardon me for posting this so late in the season. I know it's almost August. Sorry.
It seems that all the inexpensive options either look like:
But look a little deeper (especially online!) and you'll find that the variety is much more conservative and cute than you think! Observe:

You read that right-- Walmart! Who knew they had vintage style one-pieces for 33 bucks?

And Target has a line of lovely one-piece suits called Assets by Sara Blakely. Check out some of my favorites:

And some others from Target as well...

And if you're willing to splurge a little, here's some beauties from J. Crew:

Rey Swimwear (You MUST check out their site. They have a whole ton of suits that are inspired by characters that Audrey Hepburn has played. SO cute):

And of course some suits from Down East Basics:

And my personal favorite swimwear site, Lime Ricki!:

One thing I will note about Down East AND Lime Ricki is that they offer a wide variety of swim bottoms to go with their tankini tops, like boy shorts, bikini style bottoms, and even wrap skirts.

Whatever your style or budget, there is a fun, modest bathing suit for you. You don't have to spend another summer in unflattering one-pieces that look like you just got back from the Olympics! Browse the internet and the mall and comment if you know of any other insanely cute swim options!

Sorry for making this post so long! I would have loved to explain what I love about every suit, but I don't think you would love to sit for an hour and read it. Let me just tell you a few trends I love in swimwear this season:

-Sporty racerbacks. They are so comfy, and look so low-key. I like it.
-Ruffles. When they are concentrated at the bust, they bring the attention there (if you have a lot in that area, you might not what the attention brought there, but if your neckline isn't too low, you shouldn't have to worry about that). When they are layered all down the front of your suit, they can hide any curves that you aren't so proud of (if you know what I mean).
-One-shoulder styles. Oh my. I have no explanation for why I love these, but I do. They are like my favorite. So fun and different.
-Vertical stripes. They are slimming, and when you are already showing off half of your skin, it's nice to have a suit that doesn't make you look squishier than you really are.
-One thing I have seen a couple of girls do this summer to make their suits even MORE modest AND cute? Add a little bandeau top underneath your suit to cover up cleavage! I know it annoys me when my ladies feel like they're popping out, so a little extra coverage would be awesome! Bandeaus aren't even pricey, and they come in all sorts of colors and patterns! And BONUS! I was at a pool party earlier tonight with a girl who did this, and another boy was showing off her great idea to another girl! "Hey, show her what you put on it to make it more modest! Isn't that cool?"

See ladies? Good, priesthood-holding boys love girls who value modesty. It's a beautiful thing!

Okay, I will be done talking now. :)

This is a brand-spanking new blog, I do declare.

And for a bit, brand-spanking new blogs tend to be a bit lame. And they don't have very consistent posting. Although I will try to liven it as much as I can until I get the hang of it, don't expect very much more than lame, sporatic posting from this blog for a while. While you wait for it to blossom and spring forth into the wonderful, chic, beautiful modest fashion blog it will one day be, please enjoy the modest fashion blogs of these lovely ladies who inspire me:

Too-da-loo!
